... time out at the turn of the century
Lakeside villa

The Villa Martiny, built in 1904 on Seeallee, and the property on the lake, where the refugium am see was created, have been in the family of the hostess for four generations.

Mr. Ottomar Maschner, manufacturer in Vienna, and great-great-grandfather of today's owner Nina Martiny, bought what was then Villa Granitzer in Seeallee in 1918. A year later, in 1919, he also bought the lake property, all in anticipation that an economic crisis was imminent. He himself died only 2 years later in 1921, but his legacy lives on to this day.
